Since my return I have been preparing for a small show at the RSPB reserve at Northward Hill Country Fair next weekend Sunday 9th September, so I have not really had the time to sort all the photos and sketches from Asia, but they are on their way! As a little taster here's a sketch of a Lineated Barbet which was just one of the birds that I saw pretty regularly during my stay. What a bird and what a place!
If you are in Kent next weekend and fancy a bit of a day out in the country why not pop along to Northward Hill and say Hello.

Welcome back Mike.
I lived/worked in Singapore in the mid 80s (probably much changed now) and used to be fascinated by the Mynah birds which used to gather round my balcony and taunt my cat!!!
Did you get to Jurong bird park or stick with the 'wild native' specimens?
Have never been to Northward Hill despite its proximity to my home. Unfortunately will still be on hols in the Canaries when the Fair is taking place but will catch up another time and say hello ...
Look forward to seeing the sketches
The Mynas are still all over, they always make me think of Monty Python's Ministry of Silly Walks! We did the bird park for the second year running, I was like a kid in a sweet shop but the wild stuff was just as interesting and far more challenging!
You ever drawn the Mynahs Sue? I would have thought you might have at some point. Were you drawing then?
Didn't even know you had gone to Singapore Mike, nothing like keeping your parents-in-law informed. Matt called to see how Kevin was and that's the first we heard. Grumble grumble.
We went to Singapore Jo! And Indonesia whilst we were 'in the neighbourhood. Almost three weeks of sun and exotic wildlife.
Now he tells me
No, I wasn't drawing much then Jo.
Mike .... Jo has volunteered you to identify some of the birds I photographed recently on Fuerteventura. If you have time can you check my blogpage 05/09: Beach Birds. I'd appreciate it - thanks!
No worries Sue
